Laser therapy

Our Class IV laser machine is a non-invasive, non-painful method of providing relief from a number of conditions.

Laser therapy is scientifically proven to speed up the body’s natural healing process through a process called ‘photo-bio-modulation’. Examples are:

Acute conditions

  • Wounds.
  • Allergies.
  • Infections.
  • Cuts/bites.
  • Inflammation.
  • Tooth extraction pain relief.
  • Sprains, strains and fractures.
  • Post surgery healing and pain relief.

Chronic conditions

  • Degenerative joint disease.
  • Inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Periodontal disease.
  • Lick granulomas.
  • Geriatric care.
  • Hip dysplasia.
  • Feline acne.
  • Tendonitis.
  • Arthritis.

We are one of a very few practices to offer Class IV laser therapy. Class IV laser therapy reduces inflammation, reduces pain, speeds up healing and is tolerated well and often enjoyed by our patients.

We have a number of patients who are treated regularly with laser therapy, particularly dogs with osteoarthritis, where the laser provides an anti-inflammatory and pain relieving effect that can often reduce the requirement for medication, and vastly improve the quality of life of our pets.

We offer an initial course of 10 sessions (with a discount if the full course is taken up) and as a general rule suggest three treatments per week for two weeks, two treatments in the third week and then once weekly. We do also offer individual single treatments. Treatments can often be done during a normal 10-minute consultation, but should take no more than 20 minutes. After a detailed consultation with vet Emily Parr BVSc MRCVS, an individually tailored plan will be made for areas to focus on with the laser therapy for your pet. All of our nurses are trained to use the laser machine, meaning we can be quite flexible on when we can offer this for your pet.

Please pop in for a chat if you think laser therapy might benefit your animal.
