Orthopaedic surgery

Graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1983 Chris has over 33 years experience in both soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. Chris has attended many advanced surgical training programs over the years and is currently preparing a casebook for submission for an advanced qualification with the British Small Animal Veterinary Association. He has the experience, training and knowledge to carry out many complex procedures in our two operating theatres in Exmouth with an equally skilled team of veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses working to produce the best possible treatment outcome for our patients and their owners.

Examples of the surgery we carry out to mend pets when they are broken:

  • Management of cruciate disease – The most frequent cause of hind leg lameness in dogs we perform the two most advanced procedures TTA or TPLO depending on the individual needs of our patient.
  • Fracture repair – Unfortunately accidents happen and some result in broken bones. Chris will use a variety of methods to fix these breaks and restore our injured companions to health depending on the exact type of fracture and age and weight of the patient. We are fully tooled up with a range of air driven power tools to do these surgeries efficiently.
  • Limb deformities  Some young dogs can end up with bent limbs usually due to an injury to the growing points of the bones. The deformity will often lead on pain and eventual arthritis in the limb when the joints do not fit together correctly.
